ALTERNATIVE ENERGY SOLUTION
Through a blend of wind, solar and long-duration storage, we are confident that we can provide a firm energy offering at a 90% capacity factor.
The remaining 10% could be met through onsite generation, firming from the NWPS and/or by adjusting flexible loads.
We have secured land and have carried out initial grid connection scoping studies to identify suitable connection points.
We have also commenced with community engagement in the Mount Isa and Cloncurry regions.
WORLD CLASS MINERALS
The North West Minerals Province (NWMP) is blessed with enormous mineral wealth at a time when the world is recognising the critical importance of these minerals in underpinning the world’s shift to greener and more sustainable technologies. The prospect of a long and bright future for the industry in this region is exciting for all Queenslanders.
The NWMP’s exceptional resources’ wealth is matched by exceptional wind and solar resources. We see the potential of the NWMP to grow its global competitiveness and relevance in this incredibly bright industry with strong green credentials linked directly to off-grid renewable energy production.
NORTH WEST POWER SYSTEM
Distance and size of load have made Mount Isa expensive to supply in the past. High-cost gas supply or diesel generation or long-distance transmission connections are expensive options. In a time where energy users are moving increasingly to micro-grid solutions, the opportunity for the NWMP to be self-sufficient in green energy is enticing.
Neoen has extensive experience in connecting to the National Electricity Market (NEM), and we are confident that if the NWPS were to be connected to the NEM, our facilities would be able to demonstrate compliance to support this connection.
